A Quick Comment on Truth and the Sun

In my essay titled A Treatise on Atheology (see above), I make the connection that, for Bataille, the Sun represents truth. Now, this is something that other writers on Bataille would not say. For many, Bataille’s “black sun” does not follow occidental interpretations of the Sun as truth. But I want to look at the fact that I was doing a latent reading of the text. The Sun represents the general economy, and the general economy is, as we know, the truth of the restricted economy. Thus, the Sun must represent truth for Bataille. It represents not the truth, or a truth, but truth. It represents truth which is found in non-knowledge, that is found in sovereignty, etc.
