UPDATE

Being the most “real” I can be about what I plan to do with this Medium page with all of you

I intend to post everything I’ve written on this Medium, or, at least, parts (some things are sensitive and embarrassing, and so may never be posted or, at least, may take me a great deal of time to become comfortable posting)… There are things from the past few years that I’ve written but totally forgotten to post, and there are things that I have written in the past year that I have thought about posting weekly, but have never come around to it.

Here are the issues: (i) finding old writings is difficult, and more often than not, I just “come upon” them, (ii) it takes a long time to transcribe everything onto Medium (because of formatting and figuring out what I want to post and not-post), and (iii) I have to figure out what I plan to publish in journals and what I plan to publish on here.

(iii) is something I need to figure out, but have yet to. Much of my senior thesis, I intend to publish in a journal, or, at least, I intend to publish a kind of shorter version of my thesis. So, I must figure out what parts of my thesis I intend to publish in a journal and what parts I do not. I have yet to figure that out.

Most of what I post on here for the next few months (if I do; we will talk about this in a second) will be incomplete thoughts I’ve had in the past year, so most things I post I probably won’t agree with and will be labeled as unfinished.

Now, when it comes to the timeline of the next coming months, I can’t really say. I HOPE to have posted all the currently written stuff by the end of the year. I, however, find that unlikely given my current track record (but let’s hope I’m wrong about that [I’ve certainly been wrong in the past about when I will and won’t post things on my Medium]). (Also, I’m THREE to FIVE YEARS behind schedule; Schelling was 15 when he got his masters and Kripke was 17 when he wrote his first completeness theorem in modal logic [buttttt, maybe the trend is adding 2 years, and I’m 19, so 2023–2024 (at least, the part of 2024 in which I’m 19) will be my big year (and then, in the future, a 21 year old will think the same thing and write the next great thing, and so on)].)

Lastly, given that many of my posts won’t have anything to do with what I currently believe, I’m thinking about doing a Q&A post where anyone can ask me any question they like. Or maybe I should a kind of open voice call Q&A, maybe a stream? I don’t know. Either way, that’s just a thought I had a few minutes ago. What are all of your thoughts?

Best,

Evan Jack
